WHAT IS GOLD-FILLED JEWELRY?
Gold-Filled Jewelry is comprised of solid gold that is pressure bonded with jewelrs’ brass. To be considered gold-filled, it is legally required to contain 5% (1/20th) gold by weight. Where as, gold plated jewelry contains a very thin layer of solid gold (0.05%) on top of a base material. Gold-filled jewelry contains 100 times more gold than gold plated jewelry. Unlike gold plated jewelry that can easily wear off and tarnish; gold-filled jewelry is more durable, safe for most sensitive skin and water resistant.
With proper care, gold-filled jewerly is a great affordable alternative to solid gold jewelry, that can last for a very long time.
